Apple’s rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Glasses could have multiple style options

Apple and Samsung are expected to unveil their first smart glasses later this year. While Samsung is working with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker for its Galaxy Glasses, Apple appears to be planning multiple style options for its first-generation smart glasses. More details about Apple’s device have now surfaced.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple’s first smart glasses, codenamed N50, will not feature a built-in display. The company is reportedly testing four different styles and could launch all of them.

One of the designs is said to feature a large rectangular frame reminiscent of Ray-Ban’s Wayfarer style. Other styles include a slimmer rectangular frame, a larger oval/circular frame, and a smaller oval or circlular option. It may be offered in three colors: black, ocean blue, and light brown.

The smart glasses are expected to include a camera for capturing photos and recording videos. They will sync with an iPhone and feature an updated version of Siri, likely debuting with iOS 27 later this year. Users may be able to receive notifications, access information from the web, and listen to music directly through the glasses. Photos and videos captured using the glasses can be edited on the iPhone and shared easily.

Apple could announce its smart glasses toward the end of 2026, with availability expected in early 2027.

Samsung is also developing smart glasses and could launch them before the end of this year. Similar to Apple’s first-generation approach, Samsung’s glasses are expected to include a camera, speakers, and microphones, but no built-in display. They will run Android XR and use Gemini for AI-powered tasks and contextual information.

Galaxy Glasses will sync with Galaxy smartphones, with most processing handled by the connected device. Spotify is already working on an app for Android XR-based smart glasses. Galaxy Glasses could be powered by a 435mAh battery.
